Tuna-Philli Dip

(Or as it affectionally called in our house “Dip Dip!”)

This is a long time family favourite recipe from my mum that was frequently whipped up at dinner parties, Christmas lunches and holidays when I was a kid growing up.

It is such a simple, easy and delicious dip that today we use to bust those 3pm pre-dinner munchies with quality fat & protein sources and even some Omega 3s from the Tuna and olive oil, it’s a secret nutrient powerhouse in one tasty little package that even the fussiest little eater will enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 x 185g tinned Tuna in water

  • 1 x 250g block of Cream Cheese

  • Juice of 1 small lemon

  • 1-2 tbsp of cold-pressed olive oil

TIP: Your littler helpers will have a great time squishing the “dip dip”. It’s a wonderful & delicious sensory activity.

Method:

  1. Remove the cream cheese from the fridge and allow to soften for 10 minutes (for ease of combining later)

  2. Drain the water from the tuna and add to a mixing bowl with the cream cheese and lemon juice.

  3. With a fork, or your hands, combine throughly.

  4. Add olive oil, 1 tablespoon at a time, to thin and smooth out the mixture to desired consistency.

  5. Serve with crackers or veggie sticks of choice

  6. Keep sealed in the fridge for up to 5 days.
